History behind celebrating Holi?
Holi in India is celebrated due to a mythological story, as people believed. Hence there was once a king named HARINAY KASHYUP who was an atheist. He also forces the people of his kingdom to be purely atheistic. He wants only every citizen of his kingdom to worship him.
His own son PRALAD refuses to do so. Pralad was the only person in his kingdom who was a believer and worshiped Lord Vishnu in his place. Harin Kashyap tried his best to change his mind, but PRALAD never listened. Harinya got frustrated and made up his mind to kill his own son as he was not following his orders and so the people of the kingdom.
Harinya calls HOLIKA to help him. To kill his son. HOLIKA Calls PRALAD and asks him to sit on her lap. Holika was someone who was blessed with GOD that she would never burn in fire. This is the exception when he tries to kill an innocent. She forgot about the exception and asked people to put fire around her. Finally, when the fire broke out, people found that PRALAD was still sitting and reciting poojas but Holika got burnt in the fire. Then from there people started following the principles of PRALAD instead of Hariniya Keshup. Later Harinya was killed by Lord Narasimha.So this is the reason why people in India celebrate this festival of colors in a joyful and entertaining way.
